Scope and who we are
Athens Yacht Charter arranges crewed motor yacht and sailing yacht charters based in Athens, Greece, ranging from day-boats to superyachts, with day rates starting from €1,720. We act as the charter operator you deal with directly; all questions about an enquiry or a booking can be sent to [email protected].
These terms govern the contractual relationship between Athens Yacht Charter and the client who books a charter, whether that charter is a single day or several days at sea.
From enquiry to confirmed booking
Nothing on patient-lifting.com is paid for online. A charter is arranged as follows:
- the visitor sends an enquiry through the website form, by email, by phone or by WhatsApp, giving the chosen yacht (if any), the charter dates and the number of guests;
- Athens Yacht Charter replies with a written quote covering the yacht, itinerary, price and any extras;
- the booking only becomes binding once Athens Yacht Charter confirms it in writing and the required payment is received.
No charter is held or guaranteed on the basis of an enquiry alone.
Prices and what is included
The price stated in the written quote is the price for the charter itself: the vessel, crew and the itinerary described. It does not automatically include fuel, marina fees, the advance provisioning allowance (APA) charged on larger yachts, catering or other extras.
Fuel, marina fees, APA, catering and any other extra are charged only when they are listed in the written quote sent before confirmation. Nothing is added to the final bill that was not quoted.
Payment, deposit and cancellation by the client
A day charter is confirmed once it is paid in full. A charter of two days or more is confirmed once a 50% deposit has been received; the balance is due as agreed in the written quote.
If the client cancels a confirmed booking, the following refund tiers apply, calculated against the scheduled departure time:
- more than 7 days before departure: full refund;
- between 48 hours and 7 days before departure: 50% refund;
- less than 48 hours before departure: no refund.
Approved refunds are processed within 14 business days to the original method of payment. Changes to dates or itinerary requested by the client are treated as a new booking request and depend on availability; if the original booking is released, the same cancellation tiers apply to it.
Under EU consumer law, the 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts does not apply to leisure services booked for a specific date, as set out in Directive 2011/83/EU, Article 16(l). This means that once a charter is confirmed for a given date, the statutory withdrawal right does not give the client an additional right to cancel free of charge; the voluntary cancellation tiers above are the only cancellation terms Athens Yacht Charter offers, and they are applied even where the statutory right does not.
Cancellation or changes by us
If the captain or the competent port authority considers conditions unsafe for departure, the client is offered a choice between a free new date and a full refund. The captain's assessment of safety is final and is not open to negotiation from shore.
The same choice of a free new date or a full refund applies if a technical issue with the vessel makes the charter impossible to run, or if the charter cannot proceed due to circumstances beyond our control, such as official restrictions, extreme weather events or other force majeure. Athens Yacht Charter is not liable for any further compensation in these situations.
Guest capacity and the captain's authority
The number of guests on board may never exceed the vessel's licensed capacity, even if additional guests are willing to pay or stay briefly. The crew may refuse boarding to any guest whose condition or behaviour endangers the safety of the vessel, the crew or other guests.
Once on board, the captain has full authority over the vessel, the route, speed, anchorages and the timing of the charter. This authority is exercised to protect the safety of everyone on board and takes precedence over any itinerary agreed in advance.
Itinerary, conduct on board, damage and personal belongings
The itinerary discussed with the concierge team is a plan, not a guarantee. The captain may adjust stops, timings or the route in response to weather, sea conditions, port restrictions or the wellbeing of guests.
Guests are expected to follow the crew's instructions at all times, particularly those relating to safety equipment, swimming areas and movement around the vessel. Smoking, diving and the use of any equipment on board are subject to the crew's approval.
The client is responsible for damage to the yacht, its equipment or its tender caused by the client or the client's guests through negligence or disregard of the crew's instructions, beyond normal wear and tear. Athens Yacht Charter is not responsible for personal belongings brought on board; guests are responsible for keeping an eye on their own property, including while swimming or ashore.
Liability
Athens Yacht Charter organises the charter and provides a crewed, seaworthy vessel for the agreed dates. We are not liable for delays, changes or losses caused by weather, sea conditions, mechanical failure that could not reasonably have been foreseen, decisions taken by the captain for safety reasons, or acts of third parties such as port or coastguard authorities.
Where Athens Yacht Charter is found liable for a failure in the service we provide, that liability is limited to the price paid for the charter concerned. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Complaints
Any complaint about a charter should be raised with the crew at the time, so it can be addressed while the vessel is still available, and confirmed afterwards in writing to [email protected]. We respond to written complaints as soon as we reasonably can, and in any case within one month.
Use of the website and its content
patient-lifting.com and its content, including yacht descriptions, photographs and pricing information, belong to Athens Yacht Charter or are used with the owner's permission. Visitors may browse the site and use the enquiry form for the purpose of requesting a charter; copying, scraping or reusing the content for another business is not permitted.
Descriptions of the 33 yachts listed on the site, including capacity and day rates from €1,720, are indicative; the written quote issued for a specific enquiry is the accurate and binding description of what is offered.
Governing law, courts and changes to these terms
These terms, and any booking made under them, are governed by Greek law. Any dispute that cannot be resolved directly is subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Athens, Greece.
Athens Yacht Charter may update these terms from time to time to reflect how the service is actually run; the version published on patient-lifting.com at the time of a booking is the one that applies to that booking.
